Why do to many of you Pilgrims still think that America is a Democracy?

The Founding Fathers made clear reference that the American States would be United as a Constitutionally Protected Republic. Nowhere is there reference to America as a Democracy; except by todays liberals. A Democracy means that you have Mob Rule. Examples of Democracies are in just about every country in Latin America and Africa.
