How am i going to make my long distance relationship work?

me and this guy just started talking, and just fell for eachother so fast. right now he lives only a little over an hr away but thursday he leaves to cali for a couple weeks then when he comes back home hes going to be living 3 hours away from me :( 1. eff you detroit lol what do we do to keep this thing strong? he says he will come on weekends (i dont drive im younger) my dad said we cant date till im 17 since hes 21 but that will be in a month. should i try and go see him on weekends also? we both are all about this just need some advice on what we should do.
