Housebroken dog suddenly pooping inside--WHY??

Sometimes when dogs 'go' inside it means that they are marking their territory. This can happen with male and female dogs. They are making a scent to scare intruders off. Just to be sure though perhaps a vet visit is in order. I hope this gets fixed soon for you.
