Tonight's Hollyoaks: Freakish, dull, depressing - what's going on here ?

Well mental illness is very common yet still really misunderstood so I'm glad they are including storylines like these. Mental illness can happen to anyone and soaps show this quite well. Archie is just manipulative and is out for whatever he can get. I think the little girl is a hallucination that Stacey is having of the child that she had aborted. Max is struggling financially and is losing big deals. Hope that helps.
