Is it legal in MA to ask for donations to help pay for an operation for a pet cat?

There's no law against asking people for money, but don't be surprised if you don't get many donations. Especially now when the economy is in such bad shape few people will be willing to spend money on someone else's cat. If you knew you couldn't afford the surgery maybe you shouldn't have adopted a deformed cat.
